Care4Careers coach guiding an employee through an outplacement programme

What is an outplacement programme?

Personal guidance from dismissal to a new job

An outplacement programme is a structured guidance programme that helps an employee find a new, suitable job after dismissal. It combines emotional processing with career orientation and labour-market support - tailored to the pace and wishes of the individual.

The programme consists of several set phases: from an in-depth intake and self-insight, through career orientation and practical preparation, to an active job search and support during placement. Each phase has a concrete goal and a clear outcome. How intensive and how long the programme runs is something you decide together with your coach.

At Care4Careers, guidance takes place both online and on location, at more than 55 offices across the Netherlands. You work with one dedicated coach throughout the entire programme.

"The modular structure of the programme fitted my situation perfectly. Care4Careers adapted at every turn, with personal and professional guidance. It gave me both direction and confidence, so I found a suitable role more quickly."

What makes the programme effective?

Why an outplacement programme with Care4Careers works

A programme with Care4Careers is more than a course in job applications. It combines personal coaching with concrete labour-market support - always tailored to the individual, never to a standard format.

Modular structure

You choose the modules that suit your situation. From career coaching and interview training to personal branding or guidance towards self-employment - you only pay for what you need.

One dedicated coach

You work with the same coach throughout the entire programme. That brings trust, continuity and the space to truly work on your situation - without having to tell your story again each time.

Validated methods

We work with recognised career assessments, coached reflection and proven application techniques. That way we build on a solid foundation of self-insight and market knowledge.

Hybrid guidance

Conversations take place at your location, at our office or online via Teams - you choose what suits you best. With more than 55 offices across the Netherlands, we are always nearby.

Access to an employer network

Through Care4Careers you gain access to a broad network of employers and vacancies - including the hidden job market. Your jobsearch coach actively helps you make the right connections.

Measurable results

On average, our participants find a suitable new role within 3 months. We actively steer on progress, adjust where needed and stay available until you are successfully placed.

What does the programme look like?

From intake to placement - step by step

After the intake meeting and mapping out the employee's wishes and needs, a personal programme is put together. The employee decides, together with the coach, what the programme looks like - both online and on location. Every programme is tailor-made: personal, flexible and focused on lasting results.

1

Intake and situation overview

The programme starts with an in-depth intake meeting. The coach maps out the situation: what exactly has happened, where do the obstacles lie and what are the wishes for the future? Together you draw up a personal action plan with clear goals, a realistic timeline and concrete agreements about the intensity of the guidance. This conversation forms the foundation of the entire programme.

2

Processing and self-insight

Dismissal comes with emotions - and there is room for them. In this phase there is space for processing: what has this done to you, which patterns or beliefs are at play? At the same time we explore, through career assessments, coaching and reflection exercises, where your talents, drivers and core qualities lie. That self-insight is the basis for a focused and realistic career move.

3

Career orientation and setting your course

Based on your self-insight, we translate your profile to the labour market: which roles and sectors suit who you are? What are realistic possibilities, and where do opportunities lie that you may not yet have considered? We draw up a concrete career plan focused on roles that genuinely match your profile, ambitions and personal situation.

4

Labour-market preparation

In this phase we work on all the practical tools you need: a sharp, ATS-proof CV, a powerful LinkedIn profile, a clear elevator pitch and a networking strategy. Job interviews and negotiations are practised through interview training and role-play with your coach. You enter the market with confidence and a strong personal profile.

5

Active job search

Together with your coach and jobsearch coach, you get to work actively on the labour market. We respond to vacancies in a targeted way, approach employers proactively and tap into the hidden job market through networking and direct outreach. You gain access to the Care4Careers employer network. Your coach monitors progress, gives feedback on interviews and helps adjust where needed.

6

Placement and aftercare

Once you have found a new role, the guidance does not stop. The coach supports you as you start your new job: how do you make a good first impression, how do you handle expectations, and which pitfalls await? There is room for evaluation and aftercare, so that you land successfully in your new role and the transition is lasting.

Modular approach

Every programme is a combination of fitting modules

The outplacement programme consists of eight modules that can be freely combined. Together with your coach, you put together a programme that matches your situation, goals and budget. There is no distinction between fixed and optional modules - each module is a puzzle piece that is deployed as needed.

Fully combinable and scalable. Depending on budget, desired duration and personal wishes, the intensity of each module is increased or reduced - from a short exploration to in-depth guidance. That way you only pay for what you actually need.

Funding

Who pays for the outplacement programme?

In most cases, outplacement is paid for by the employer. Exactly how the costs are covered varies from one situation to the next - from a settlement agreement to a social plan. In some cases the employee invests in their next step themselves.

Most common

The employer pays for the programme

In most cases, the employer pays for the outplacement guidance. This is often part of the arrangements around dismissal or reorganisation, and reflects good employership.

Through a settlement agreement

Outplacement is often included as part of the arrangements in the settlement agreement. A practical and tax-free way to fund guidance.

As part of a social plan

Many organisations offer outplacement during reorganisations as a collective measure. This way, all affected employees receive equal guidance towards new work.

Investing in your next step yourself

Sometimes an employee chooses to arrange guidance themselves. This can be done through the transition allowance or as a personal investment in a stronger position on the labour market.

Discuss the options with your employer. In many cases an outplacement programme can be included in a settlement agreement or as part of the termination arrangements.

Which modules are compulsory in an outplacement programme?

No module is mandatory. The Career Scan is almost always the starting point and Aftercare almost always the end point, but you decide what to use. The eight modules (Career Scan, Where to from here?, Networking & Job Applications 3.0, Personal Branding, Search & Match, Entrepreneurship, Training & Education Advice and Aftercare) are freely combined with your coach, to match your situation and budget.

How long does an outplacement programme take?

Where does the outplacement programme take place?

Our programmes are hybrid: you choose between conversations on location, online via Teams, or a combination. We have more than 55 offices throughout the Netherlands - from Gouda and Amsterdam to Utrecht, Eindhoven and Emmen.

What is the difference between outplacement and second-track reintegration?

Outplacement focuses on finding new work after dismissal. Second-track reintegration takes place during illness and is aimed at finding suitable work outside the employee's own organisation, in line with the Gatekeeper Improvement Act (Wet verbetering poortwachter).
