Career coaching: professional guidance for your career
What is career coaching?
The same coach guides you throughout, with a few weeks between each appointment. Their number follows from your question: reaching a decision can be done in two, working out which direction fits takes a longer period.
Most of it happens between appointments. A conversation with someone already in the role gives you sharper information than a test, because you hear what such a day actually consists of.
You will find what a programme consists of on the service page, while the career scan covers what an assessment yields.

Career coaching in Maastricht and nearby
Our Maastricht location is on Stationsplein, directly opposite the station. The load here falls on healthcare, education and hospitality, which carry this region, with the academic hospital, the university and Zuyd as the largest names. What makes this labour market unusual is its shape: Zuid-Limburg to the north, Belgium to the west and Germany to the east, all within half an hour.
Leaving healthcare is rarely necessary here in order to do something else. Around the academic hospital lies a network of institutions, laboratories and research groups where the same knowledge is wanted in a different kind of role. That saves retraining, and it is the first route we go down before looking further.
About Maastricht
Good to know about Maastricht
Healthcare here is a chain, not one employer
Around the academic hospital sits a network of institutions, laboratories and research groups. Leaving healthcare does not have to mean leaving the chain; the roles alongside it often ask for the same experience in a different shape.
Three countries, two extra languages
Liège, Hasselt and Aachen are within half an hour. That widens your search area considerably, but it needs a CV that reads for a Belgian or German reader, which is not the same as a translation.
One coach, from intake to after your first month
You do not change contact person along the way. Someone who already knows your story does not need to hear it again, and that saves weeks.
Stationsplein, opposite the platform
From Sittard, Heerlen or Roermond you step off the train and you are there. No travel needed? Then the programme runs on screen, with the same coach.
The chain beside healthcare
Laboratories, research groups, training institutes and suppliers want people who know the trade from the inside. You step out of the shift but not out of the field, and your experience counts in full.
A CV for three countries is not a translation
Liège, Hasselt and Aachen sit within half an hour, but a Belgian or German reader expects a different structure and a different level of detail. Adjusting for that is work in itself and it pays off at once.
Small area, short lines
South Limburg is compact, which means people know one another. That works in your favour the moment you know who to speak to; see networking to find work.
Working it out while there is time
With a contract still under you, trying something carries no risk. Anyone forced to choose under pressure ends up almost always with whatever most resembles the old job.
What does career coaching at Care4Careers look like?
No fixed package
The content comes out of your question; there is no need to pick a package in advance.
Alongside you can read how a programme runs in practice.
Should the real question sit somewhere else, we change the order.
Intake conversation
You describe what is going on; together we settle which part of your work you want to keep and which not.
Who am I? Why do I work? What can I do?
Tests and assignments bring out where you are strong and which setting belongs with that.
What do I want?
Your preferences go beside what is genuinely on offer in South Limburg and across the border.
Drawing up a plan of action
You decide what takes priority; we attach dates and agree when we check it over.
Making the next step happen
You take the step. We keep in touch for as long as anything can still be put right.
What you are working towards
You know which part of your work you want to keep, and you are searching precisely where that part sits.
Four kinds of career question
Where does it break down?
If several fit, take the first; that one generally holds up the others.
Two options and no way to pick
Two possibilities weighed against each other, or the question whether to stay. A handful of conversations, criteria on paper, and a decision you can account for.
The direction is still unclear
A question that broad gets answered in practice rather than at a table: conversations, a day alongside someone, an assessment. Our piece on this is which work suits you.
You want the same trade, different conditions
Then we search inside the field for roles with a different rhythm or a different responsibility. That is a targeted search, not retraining.
You want an outside view of your skills
A career scan delivers a report describing your abilities and what drives you. The document stays with you.

Coaching with a dismissal
A dismissal changes the order
A forced departure asks for two things at once. There has to be an account that holds up outside your old employer, and a direction to go with it. Without the first, the second question stays stuck on what you lost.
Where your employer contributes, the programme is called outplacement and covers more than conversations.
Who thinks along with you
Career coaches at the Stationsplein
The same coach from intake until after your first month, someone who knows the healthcare chain here and which roles sit beside it. We describe the approach of a what a career coach does elsewhere. Conversations take place at the Stationsplein or on screen.

Frequently asked questions
Questions about career coaching in Maastricht
How long does this take?
Settling a decision generally works in two sessions. Where the question lies broader, it soon takes three months or so and holds four to six appointments.
What does it cost?
It begins at 1,000 euros excluding VAT and rises as the programme holds more. We collected the price information on the costs page. You pay nothing for that first conversation.
Will my employer contribute?
Often, yes. Check your collective agreement first: where it includes a training or career budget, this often qualifies. We draw up a brief proposal stating the content and the amount.
Can it run by video?
Yes. We solve that with online career coaching.
I want fewer hours but the same work. Does this help with that?
Certainly. Working less is a negotiation rather than a favour, and you prepare for it: what you give up, what it brings you, and why it is a good outcome for your employer as well.
Where is Care4Careers in Maastricht?
Stationsplein 8k, 6221 BT Maastricht, directly opposite the station. Tell us beforehand that you plan to come, so the coach who fits your question is booked in.
Which places are covered?
All of Zuid-Limburg is covered: Sittard, Geleen, Heerlen, Kerkrade, Valkenburg and Roermond. If you want to look across the border, we include Liège, Hasselt and Aachen.
I want out of healthcare, but I have invested everything in it.
None of that has to be lost. The question is usually not whether you want out of healthcare, but which part you want to be rid of: the shifts, the pace, the responsibility or the contact. Once that is sharp, more often than not there is more possible inside the same field.
Is working in Belgium or Germany something for me?
That depends on your trade and your language level. For healthcare and technical work the threshold is lower than many people think. We look at it together, including what it does to what you build up.
I do not know whether this is the right moment.
Use the introductory conversation to find out; it is free and commits you to nothing. Sometimes the conclusion is that you are better off starting in six months, and we will say so.
Do you have another question about career coaching? Feel free to get in touch for a no-obligation conversation.
