Career coaching

Career coaching for women: from doubt to a choice

You do your job well, but you wonder whether you want to be doing the same work for the next ten years. Perhaps you want to progress, take on different work or have more room for your private life. Career coaching helps you explore which options suit you, without having to decide straight away to change jobs.

What we hear

The career questions we hear most

Four questions come up regularly in our coaching. They are about changes in your personal situation, opportunities to develop and combining work with home life.

„I am back after my leave, and it no longer fits the way it did”

After your leave you pick up your work again, and you may notice that you expect something different from it now. Other hours, other responsibilities, other room to develop. It helps to work out what exactly has changed.

„I do want that next step, but not the diary that comes with it”

You want to take a next step, but you have doubts about the extra responsibilities or the hours. In career coaching you explore which roles match your ambitions and which conditions matter to you.

„I work four days, and I still want to keep developing”

You work four days and want to keep developing at the same time. You may be wondering what room there is to grow within your current working week. We look at which roles and responsibilities fit, and at how to raise it.

„I am good at this, but what else could I do?”

You have built up a lot of experience and you know what is expected of you. Even so, you may want to do different work. Mapping your skills and interests again shows which roles could also suit you.

These are career questions we often come across with women in our practice. The coaching itself is no different from our regular career coaching. We tailor the programme to your personal situation and the questions you want to explore.

The programme

What happens in a programme

The programme has four steps. Together with your coach you look at your current situation, your skills, your wishes and your options. The coach helps you get an overview and back up your choices. You decide which direction to take.

1

What is going on

We discuss your current work situation, what you have doubts about and how long you have been thinking about a change.

2

What you can do

We map out your qualities, work experience and skills, and look at where else you could use them.

3

What you want

We discuss which tasks, responsibilities and terms of employment suit you, taking your personal situation into account.

4

What is feasible

We look at the options on the labour market and decide on a first step you can take.

We match you with a coach based on your question, your situation and your region. If a particular coach appeals to you, let us know and we will take that into account as far as we can. It matters that you feel comfortable with the person you discuss your career questions with. Meet them on our coaches page.

Work and home

Work and home: the question behind the question

Circumstances outside work can also play a part in career choices. Think of how caring responsibilities are shared, the hours you are available or arrangements at home. These things can affect which roles or responsibilities are realistic for you.

We do not assume a particular family situation or division of responsibilities. If your private circumstances matter for your career choice, we discuss them during the programme. That way you can make a plan that fits your ambitions and also works in your day-to-day life.

Practical

Online or on location

You can hold the sessions online or at one of our locations, or combine the two. Online coaching can be convenient if you want to fit the sessions in around work and other commitments. How that works in practice is explained in online career coaching.

Costs

Costs and reimbursement

A short programme starts at €1,000 excluding VAT; a full programme costs more, depending on the number of sessions. You may be able to use your employer's training or development budget. You can also pay for the programme yourself. What the price depends on is explained on our career coaching page.

Frequently asked questions

Will I be matched with a female coach?

You can say whether you would prefer a female coach. Roughly half of our coaches are women, so we can usually take that preference into account. You can also look through the overview of coaches and tell us who you would like to meet. The match itself is based on your question, your situation and your region. What matters most is that you have confidence in your coach.

Is this different from ordinary career coaching?

No, we use the same approach as in our regular career coaching. We do tailor the sessions to the subjects that matter to you, such as opportunities to progress, work-life balance or returning after leave. Your own career question determines what the programme covers.

Can I come after a period of care leave?

Yes. After a period of care leave you may want to look again at how your work fits your current situation. Perhaps you want different hours, an adjusted role or new options. During the programme we map out your wishes and skills and look at which changes are feasible.

What if I do not know what I want yet?

You do not need a clear career direction beforehand. We start by looking at the work you enjoy, what you are good at and what you find important in a job. If you would like to explore first without committing to a full programme, the career scan is the shorter way in.
