Outplacement: support towards a new future
What is outplacement?
Outplacement in Middelburg makes room for the question that often lies untouched on Walcheren for years: that course, that other field or that business of your own you once considered. We examine seriously what such a direction would ask of you, without assuming beforehand that it has to become your choice. The opening conversation is free.
The sequence of the phases is described in what an outplacement programme involves.
What does an outplacement process look like at Care4Careers in Middelburg?
Our approach in 5 steps
Three to six months altogether, within which five steps come in an unchanging order. That is how an outplacement programme differs from loose advice.
Many people opt for a modular programme: together with your coach you decide where to put the effort. Here you will find our modules.
Personal intake
What did you once want, and why did it not happen? The second answer is usually the more interesting.
Coaching and assessment
What can you do now, and does that connect to the old plan or not at all?
Preparing for the market
Your profile is written for the direction you choose, not for both at once.
Job search and network
You approach employers yourself. On an island who you speak to counts more than how many letters you send.
Aftercare and support
You have started and we watch whether the choice holds.

When guidance helps create forward movement
When outplacement is used
A new step may follow organisational change, a contract ending or a change in your individual working situation. What follows is always personal.
Your position disappears through reorganisation
If the role ends, we identify which parts of your professional background you want to continue and where they remain useful.
Temporary work comes to an end
A known final date gives you time to choose direction and explore employers beforehand.
An agreed departure includes professional support
Where employment ends by mutual consent, a transition budget can be arranged to help prepare the period afterwards.
Your previous role is no longer suitable after absence
If resuming work is not possible and employment ends, we look for a role and environment that fit more effectively.
Outplacement in Middelburg
From work to work, or back to what you once wanted
Perhaps there is a course, profession or business idea you considered earlier in your career. An outplacement programme gives you the opportunity to reconsider that possibility without assuming in advance that it must become your next step.
We know the employers on Walcheren
The hospital, the institutions, the province, the municipalities and the firms along the canal zone. Which organisation has a short route in, we know.
An old plan we test against facts
What it costs, how long it takes and whether there is work in it, we work out before you decide anything. Sometimes it turns out feasible and sometimes it is settled in one conversation.
Your employer pays for the guidance
You find it back in the papers around your departure; have those checked before you agree: having your settlement agreement reviewed.
After your first working day too
Whether a choice you postponed for twenty years is right now shows in practice. Until then you can still reach your coach.
What you are working towards
You looked at the old plan properly once, and then chose deliberately what you actually do.
Who guides you
Your coach at the Watersniphof
At the Watersniphof you meet someone who knows healthcare, government and manufacturing on Walcheren, including the seasonal swing in tourism. If you want to examine that older ambition seriously, this is the person who looks at it soberly: what it asks, what it yields and what that means on an island with a compact market. Meetings can also run entirely by video.
Our office
Outplacement in Middelburg and nearby
Our Middelburg location stands on Watersniphof, at the edge of town. Healthcare, tourism, government and manufacturing keep Walcheren going, with Vlissingen and Goes as the other centres of gravity. On an island with a compact labour market a departure often brings back an old question: is this the moment to do what you once set aside.
About Middelburg
Good to know about Middelburg
Healthcare and government are the constants here
The hospital, the care institutions, the province and the municipalities together offer most of the work on a permanent contract. Around them sits a lot of seasonal work, which splits the market in two.
Tourism sets the rhythm of the year
From April to September the coast runs at full tilt and afterwards it falls back. Anyone from that corner knows peaks and flexibility, and elsewhere that is more usable than it seems.
Goes, Vlissingen and Terneuzen within reach
All three half an hour away, Terneuzen through the tunnel. Including Zeeuws-Vlaanderen means also looking at the industry along the canal zone.
Watersniphof, at the edge of Middelburg
Parking at the door is straightforward and the station is a short ride away. Working remotely is possible from the first conversation to the aftercare.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about outplacement
I want to take a course. Can that be part of the programme?
The course itself is not included, but funding for it can often be found. Sometimes there is a training budget in the social plan, sometimes a new employer will contribute. We first work out whether the course actually leads to work, which saves disappointment afterwards.
The market here is small. Do I have to leave the island?
Not necessarily. Within Walcheren and the Bevelanden there is more permanent work than people assume, especially in healthcare, education and government. Wanting more choice, Goes, Vlissingen and through the tunnel Terneuzen are all within half an hour.
I come from tourism. What else can I do?
Working in tourism means working with peaks, with customers and with changing teams. All three count in healthcare, retail, logistics and events, and that is work running the whole year instead of half of it.
What does a programme cost?
The rate runs from 2,000 to 5,000 euros excluding VAT. Which components you use and how long it runs set the amount, which you get on paper beforehand.
How soon can it begin?
About seven days after agreement on the assignment. Written enquiries are normally dealt with inside one working day.
We are registering several employees. Do they get the same?
No. One wants the same work at a different employer and another seizes this to do something entirely different. The coach and the employee decide together which modules come up. The make-up is set out at the eight modules.
