Second-Track Reintegration

Reintegration office in Groningen

Once it is clear that the old job is off the table, track 2 takes over. In the north, starting early weighs even heavier, because fewer alternative employers sit within reach. Care4Careers handles both the placement work and the reporting.

Second-track reintegration in Groningen

Trusted by organisations that invest in their people

The second track in brief

To another employer, with guidance and a watertight file.

When neither the role nor the organisation offers a way out, second-track reintegration takes effect. From that moment the employee works on a different direction, on confidence and on concrete steps towards work elsewhere. What the programme covers is set out separately.

The employer has a statutory obligation here and a direct interest: starting on time prevents long-term absence and a sanction from the UWV.

Our office

Second-track reintegration in Groningen and nearby

In Groningen our location is the Brugstraat, between the Grote Markt and the Noorderplantsoen. Groningen is the only genuinely large city in the north of the Netherlands, and that shapes the entire labour market: the UMCG hospital is by far the biggest employer, and around it sit education and research, IT, agrifood and everything attached to the energy transition. Anyone wanting to stay notices that senior-level supply is thinner than in the Randstad. That is no reason to leave, but it is a reason to choose more deliberately.

In Groningen, second-track cases often come out of healthcare, education and logistics: sectors where pressure is high and staff shortages are structural. The law obliges employer and employee to look beyond the organisation in good time; the framework is described under what second-track reintegration involves. We organise that and make sure the file is sound.

About Groningen

Good to know about Groningen

Healthcare and education drive the region

The UMCG, the Hanze university of applied sciences and the university together account for a large share of employment. Experience gained there transfers readily across the north.

Energy has turned into a growth sector

Hydrogen, grid reinforcement and the activity around the Eemshaven are creating work that barely existed ten years ago. Technical and project-based profiles benefit most.

Brugstraat, in the old centre

Walkable from the main station and cyclable from every district. For people coming in from the province, working online is often more practical, and that is entirely possible.

The province is part of it

Assen, Hoogezand, Veendam, Leek, Winschoten and Delfzijl all sit within half an hour. We count those towns as the same labour market, because that is what they are.

Starting early matters most here

With fewer employers nearby, finding suitable work takes longer. Anyone starting after the first-year evaluation has less room in the north than in the Randstad.

What the programme looks like

From intake to aftercare, step by step

A second track programme at Care4Careers offers structure, perspective and personal guidance towards suitable work with another employer. Every programme is tailored to the employee and meets the requirements of the Gatekeeper Act and the UWV.

1

Intake meeting and situation overview

Everything that later ends up in the file begins with the first conversation. In it the coach brings together the medical situation, the work history and the wishes. What comes out is an action plan that meets the UWV requirements and has stayed workable.

2

Capacity analysis & occupational health assessment

The FML sets the outer limit, the rest of the medical information fills it in. The coach translates that into a reintegration plan with goals you can tick off, and makes sure employer, company doctor and UWV are brought up to date monthly.

3

Career scan & personal coaching

This phase is about the employee themselves. Through tests, assignments and conversations, talents and drivers surface and the limitations are named. Confidence grows along with it, and a search profile emerges that makes sense outside their own organisation.

4

Labour market exploration & job matching

Now the profile goes to market. We look for work that suits the capacity and that actually exists, and slot in a reintegration place or work experience place when the move would otherwise be too great. The openings lie with healthcare, IT and education, and that decides where we begin the search.

5

Active job search & network approach

The employee does the approaching themselves, with the coach alongside. Deliberate selection, calling on the network and approaching employers directly also bring up what is never published. CV, LinkedIn and interview preparation belong to it, with weekly review. The search area runs on to Assen and Winschoten, so travel distance comes up early in the conversation.

6

Aftercare and sustainable placement

The file only closes once the employee has genuinely landed. For two months the coach stays reachable for whatever comes up then, and the reports and the closing reintegration report go to the UWV in the form that applies there.

In this region

What a second track looks like here

The process is the same everywhere; in this province the emphasis shifts because of the distances and the size of the employers.

  • Establishing what is still possible

We work from the company doctor's assessment. Where that is not sharp enough, we advise a labour expert assessment first, before time is lost.

  • Searching city and province together

Groningen alone is too narrow. We bring in Assen, Hoogezand, Veendam, Leek and Winschoten, provided the travel time matches the employee's capacity. Where no employer is in view yet, the UWV werkfit programme can be an intermediate step.

  • Trying it out in practice

A work experience placement answers the only question that counts: can someone keep this up. Paper says little about that.

  • Recording what happens

Nothing stays undocumented: talks held, options weighed, doors closed. It is that record which keeps a wage sanction off the table when the assessor reviews the case.

What we are working towards

The search across the city and the province was demonstrably broad, and that is precisely what gets assessed later.

Our approach: personal, local and results-driven

What northern employers get from us

A programme that stalls costs up to 52 weeks of additional salary continuation. Our commitment is that you never receive that bill.

We know the northern employers

From care institutions to grid operators and logistics. In a smaller market, knowing who to call is half the work.

We keep travel time realistic

A job in Emmen sounds fine until someone with a limitation has to get there daily. We work that out beforehand.

We know the alternatives within healthcare

From the ward to planning, quality, training or triage. Often the sector stays the same and only the strain changes.

We write for the RIV assessment

The reporting is evidence, not a formality. The amount involved in a sanction is found under the cost of a wage sanction.

At the Brugstraat or online

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about reintegration

How much time should we allow for it?

Allow nine to twelve months of active placement work. More on that timeline is available under how long a track 2 programme runs. In the north you tend towards the upper end.

Our employee insists on staying in healthcare. Is that possible?

Often yes. Healthcare here is large enough to move within the sector towards work with less physical or emotional strain, for instance into planning, training or quality. If a sanction is running after all, a shortening request can shorten the third year.

What if the track produces nothing?

As long as you can show the search was wide and genuine, the programme holds. UWV judges the effort, and a well-built file is exactly what shows it.

Can you also work in English?

Yes. The IT sector and the university employ many international staff. We coach in English just as readily, without anything extra having to be arranged. A track 2 programme costs from 2,300 euro excluding VAT, according to duration and effort.

Where can I find Care4Careers in Groningen?

Brugstraat 7A, 9712 AA Groningen, in the city centre. Let us know in advance that you are coming and the coach who works most on your kind of question will be there.

Do you travel outside the city?

Yes. Our working area covers the whole province plus part of Drenthe: Assen, Hoogezand, Veendam, Winschoten, Leek and Delfzijl. At our location or by video.

Our employee lives well outside the city. Does that work?

It does, but it narrows the search radius. We account for travel time and public transport, because with reduced capacity an hour each way is rarely sustainable.
