Outplacement: support towards a new future
What is outplacement?
With outplacement the bill for guidance towards other work lands with your employer. Recording it happens in the settlement agreement or, where a collective arrangement applies, in the social plan. What comes with it financially is covered under the transition payment.
Curious how the phases follow one another? Read what an outplacement programme involves.
What does an outplacement process look like at Care4Careers in Arnhem?
Our approach in 5 steps
Every outplacement programme runs through these five steps. Along the way self-insight, application skills, network and labour-market approach are all covered. That is what sets outplacement apart from loose help: there is an order to it.
Many people opt for a modular programme: together with your coach you decide where to put the effort. Here you will find our modules.
Personal intake
This is where it commonly goes wrong: people start with their CV while the paperwork is still unsettled. We start with what has been agreed and what remains open.
Coaching and assessments
This is where it commonly goes wrong: assuming you know what you can do. Assessments and conversations nearly always turn up something you would not have named yourself.
Labour market preparation
This is where it commonly goes wrong: writing a CV for your old colleagues. We write it for someone who does not know your trade.
Job search and networking
This is where it commonly goes wrong: waiting for vacancies. Most placements in this region come through people, so we approach employers directly.
Aftercare and guidance
This is where it commonly goes wrong: stopping at the signature. The opening months decide whether the move holds, so we stay alongside for those.

When your professional future lies elsewhere
When outplacement is used
Once it becomes clear that you will continue outside the organisation, attention can move towards what you want to take forward and where you want to restart.
Restructuring brings your position to an end
If your role disappears, we make your value visible beyond the boundaries of that specific job.
A temporary appointment will not continue
Knowing the end date allows you to investigate possible directions and potential employers while you are still employed.
Both parties formalise an agreed departure
Outplacement can be included in the arrangements and used to support a deliberate move towards your next professional setting.
The former workplace no longer fits after absence
If a return is not sustainable and the employment relationship ends, we focus on roles that suit what is currently possible.
Outplacement in Arnhem
From work to work, with the arrangements in order
This region has many large employers with formal procedures and a works council looking on. That gives structure and time, provided you use that time from day one.
We know the ways in
From the province and the municipality to healthcare, education and grid operators. Each organisation has its own route and we know them from experience.
Components taken separately
You assemble the programme from eight components; what you skip, you skip.
Nijmegen simply counts
The two cities are twenty minutes apart and share a labour market. We include both as standard.
The same coach from start to finish
From the first conversation to after your first day at work. Switching halfway costs time you do not get back.
What you are working towards
We help you explain your departure clearly and professionally without allowing it to define the rest of your story. From there, the focus shifts to your experience, strengths and what you can offer a future employer.
Who you talk to
The coaches in Velp
You work with a dedicated coach who gives you space to discuss your departure when needed. Together, you then focus on what will help you move forward with confidence.
Our office
Outplacement in Arnhem and nearby
Our location for the Arnhem region is the Emmastraat in Velp, just over the municipal boundary and ten minutes from Arnhem Centraal. What brings people here varies widely: one arrives from healthcare, another from the provincial government, from education, the energy sector or a shop in the centre. What they share is that something went wrong. Exactly where decides what is needed now.
What has already been arranged decides the first step here. If there is a social plan, the support is usually paid for and speed is what counts. If there is a draft agreement, there is still room to talk. If there is nothing, that is where we begin. For the employer the order is the same: what is fixed decides what is still possible.
About Arnhem
Good to know about Arnhem
Large employers, long service
The hospital, the province, the council and the university of applied sciences hold on to people for years. Comfortable while it lasts, awkward when after fifteen years you suddenly have to spell out what you can do.
Energy and grid management are growing fast
Around Arnhem sits a cluster of grid operators, inspection bodies and consulting engineers that has been short of staff for years. Even without a technical background there are roles there in purchasing, planning and customer contact.
Nijmegen is twenty minutes away
The two cities form a single labour market. Stretching your search across both doubles what is on offer without the commute becoming unworkable.
Emmastraat in Velp, close to the station
You can park at the door and Velp station is round the corner. The bus from Arnhem takes a quarter of an hour. Give us a heads-up and we make sure the right person is free.
Paperwork first, CV after
Arrangements surrounding your departure can have important consequences. It is therefore sensible to understand what has been agreed before making final decisions.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about outplacement
My field has nothing to do with engineering or energy. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Healthcare, education, government and retail together account for the majority of jobs here. The energy sector stands out because it is growing, not because it is the largest. We search where your experience counts, and that is more often outside your own sector than you would expect.
How honest should I be about why I left?
Honestly, briefly and without recrimination. Employers do not need the details, they want to know whether it is calmly behind you. Three sentences will do. We phrase it together and practise it, because the tone matters more than the content.
Do you include Nijmegen in the search?
As standard, yes. The two cities are twenty minutes apart and share a labour market. If you would rather stay close to home, we agree that and stick to it.
Who pays for this?
Save for the rare exception it is your employer, via the settlement agreement or the social plan. What it comes to depends on which modules you pick and how long it runs; you see the figure in the quote before we start. 2,000 euro is the floor and 5,000 the ceiling, both excluding VAT. Where you land between them you choose yourself from the eight components.
How soon can I start?
Usually within a week. If a deadline for signing a proposal is running, we bring the first conversation forward, because that is where most time can be won.
Where is Care4Careers for the Arnhem region?
Emmastraat 24-A, 6881 SV Velp, just outside Arnhem and within walking distance of Velp station. By car you park at the door. Announce yourself first, so we can put the coach who fits your circumstances in the diary.
Which towns belong to the service area?
Velp, Rheden, Dieren, Oosterbeek, Renkum, Duiven, Westervoort, Zevenaar and Doetinchem are all included, and Nijmegen is twenty minutes away. If travelling gets in the way, you join on screen instead.
There was a falling-out. Do I have to mention that in an interview?
The reason for leaving your previous employer may come up during an interview. We help you prepare a concise and professional answer so that you can explain the situation and then bring the conversation back to what you can offer.
