Outplacement: support towards a new future

What is outplacement?

Outplacement means your employer pays for guidance towards other work, usually arranged in the settlement agreement. The programme is modular: you and your coach choose which components you need, from a career scan to active job matching, and you pay only for those. Because many posts in The Hague are filled through people who know each other, our emphasis falls early on who you should be speaking to.

What does an outplacement process look like at Care4Careers in The Hague?

Our approach in 5 steps

The five steps below are the core of our outplacement programme. Together with your coach you work on self-insight, on application skills, on your network and on how you approach employers. That makes outplacement more concrete than advice alone.

Many people opt for a modular programme: together with your coach you decide where to put the effort. Here you will find our modules.

1

Personal intake

In this phase we map your situation, your agreements and your wishes, and decide how visible you want to be.

2

Coaching and assessments

In this phase conversations and assessments establish what you can genuinely do, apart from your job title or grade.

3

Labour market preparation

In this phase we set your profile against the employers in The Hague and determine which types of organisation fit.

4

Job search and networking

In this phase you go public: CV and profile in order, interviews rehearsed and your network approached deliberately.

5

Aftercare and guidance

In this phase you have started, and we stay available for the first months in the new post.

Coach Hague

When an external career move needs to be prepared

When outplacement is used

The reason may be organisational, contractual or personal. We adapt the starting point to what has already been decided and what still needs exploring.

Your role disappears through restructuring

If the organisation no longer continues your position, we examine how your experience can be used outside its current setting.

Temporary employment has an agreed finish

When renewal will not happen, you can already strengthen your position in the market and look ahead before the final day.

Both sides reach agreement on departure

Employer-funded support can be included in the settlement, helping you prepare professionally for what follows.

Returning to the current employer is no longer possible

If employment ends after a sustainable return is ruled out, we investigate work that can provide a more suitable next setting.

Outplacement in The Hague

From work to work, with everything you have built up

This region is full of organisations that resemble one another and still work very differently. Knowing that difference makes the search sharper and wastes fewer applications.

Translation is most of the work here

Anyone who spent years in one environment uses words that mean nothing outside it. Rewriting that yields more than another application; see writing a CV after dismissal.

We know the employers in this region

From care institutions and schools to consultancies and delivery agencies. That saves hunting for the right way in.

Also when the procedure runs in English

With the international organisations here that is the rule rather than the exception. Part of our team guides entirely in it.

Wassenaar to Zoetermeer is one market

Rijswijk, Voorburg, Leidschendam, Delft and the Westland belong to it. Travel times inside that ring stay under half an hour.

What you are working towards

You know which kind of organisation suits you and you are in one, instead of somewhere you happened to end up again.

Our office

Outplacement in Hague and nearby

Our location in The Hague is the Raamweg, on the edge of the Benoordenhout and walking distance from the government quarter. The city is known for ministries and international institutions, but most of the jobs are not there: healthcare, education, retail and professional services are by far the largest employers between them. What the conversations here have in common is that people often change worlds without changing field.

A contract rarely ends the same way twice. One person is made redundant in a reorganisation, another leaves by mutual agreement, and for a third an appointment simply expires. That form decides how much time there is and what there is to discuss, which is why we start there. For the employer it decides just as much about what can still be arranged.

About Hague

Good to know about Hague

Policy, delivery and consultancy overlap

Many people here move back and forth between a ministry, an agency and a consultancy over their career. That is normal, and it makes switching easier than most assume.

International work is its own category

The international institutions operate in English and on their own contract terms. We coach in English and know how an expiring appointment plays out in practice.

Raamweg, beside the Malieveld

Reachable by tram and bus from across the city and a short cycle from Centraal. Anyone who would rather stay home does the sessions by video.

One market from Wassenaar to Zoetermeer

Rijswijk, Voorburg, Leidschendam, Zoetermeer, Delft and the Westland all belong to it. Journeys inside that ring stay under half an hour.

The form of the departure sets the room to manoeuvre

A social plan often arranges support already, a settlement agreement leaves room to negotiate, and with an expiring contract time is the only thing that counts.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about outplacement

I work for central government. Do the same rules apply to me?

Largely, though the path there differs. Since the Wnra came into force, civil servants fall under ordinary employment law, while internal procedures and work-to-work policy still run to their own rhythm. We adapt the programme to that.

Can I do the programme in English?

Yes, from intake to aftercare. Given how many bodies here operate in English, that is simply standard practice for us. If the feedback keeps landing on the interview itself, look at preparing for a job interview.

How do I stop my network hearing too early that I have to leave?

By working in stages. We begin with orientation and conversations outside your immediate circle, and decide together when you become more widely visible.

Is a secondment a step backwards?

Seldom. In The Hague, secondment is a well-trodden route into permanent work, with the side benefit that you see from the inside which posts are coming up.

Who pays, and what should I agree about it?

The employer pays, and the budget belongs in your settlement agreement. Get legal eyes on it, and work out what your transition payment comes to, before you put your name to anything. The entry rate is 2,000 euro; with every component included you arrive at 5,000, excluding VAT.

Where can I find Care4Careers in The Hague?

Raamweg 4, 2596 HL The Hague. A first conversation carries no price tag and no obligation. If you plan to visit, let us know beforehand and we will set aside time with the coach who handles your type of question.

How far does your working area reach?

From Wassenaar to Zoetermeer and from Scheveningen to Delft. Rijswijk, Voorburg, Leidschendam and the Westland all fall within it, in person or online.

I come from a policy role. What can I do outside it?

More than you think. Analysing, writing, weighing interests and steering processes are wanted everywhere. The challenge is translating policy language into terms another employer recognises, and that is where we start.
