Second-Track Reintegration
Reintegration office in Landsmeer
Across the IJ lies one of the largest labour markets in Europe, fifteen minutes away. When the original role does not return, the question is which part of it is genuinely within reach. We work that out from the Dorpsstraat and keep the file in order for the UWV's review.

The essentials of second-track reintegration
Looking for other work with the city round the corner
Once the original role lapses and the employer has no place internally, the second track comes up. What remains possible is settled first; building capacity follows, and approaching employers only after that. The order in which they run is described at the second track programme.
Alongside the statutory obligation, something about how people describe themselves plays a part here. Employees usually give their job title, while colleagues would point to something quite different: the thing everybody came to them for. In a market the size of Amsterdam, that second answer is more useful than the first.
Our office
Second-track reintegration in Landsmeer and nearby
Our Landsmeer location stands on Dorpsstraat, just above Amsterdam-Noord. Office work, care and trade fill most of the jobs here, and Amsterdam is literally round the corner. After a forced departure people usually describe themselves in job titles, while their colleagues would name something entirely different if you asked them.
About Landsmeer
Good to know about Landsmeer
Amsterdam a quarter of an hour away
On the other side of the IJ lies one of the largest labour markets in Europe, a quarter of an hour away. For office roles and healthcare that is your working area in practice, even if you go on living in the village; it makes a difference of hundreds of vacancies against Waterland alone.
A village with city jobs
Landsmeer counts under twelve thousand inhabitants, but most people work elsewhere. That means your network often sits outside the municipality rather than inside it.
Healthcare and engineering are structurally short
From Purmerend to Zaandam demand outstrips supply in care, installation and construction. Even without a background in that corner there are ways in through planning and support.
Dorpsstraat, in the centre
Parking is available nearby and the bus to Amsterdam-Noord stops close at hand. Running the whole programme remotely is equally possible.
What the programme looks like
From intake to aftercare, step by step
What follows is a run of six stages, known as the second track programme. The series does not change; what goes into it varies per person, and the Gatekeeper Improvement Act settles how it is written down.
Intake meeting and situation overview
The opening conversation is about what went wrong in practice, and with office work that lies more often in the accumulation than in one task. The medical opinion, the earlier jobs and the employee's own preference come in alongside, and together they lead to an action plan meeting the requirements.
Capacity analysis & occupational health assessment
What is still possible is then set down in black and white. The FML and the supplementary information determine what work remains, with concentration, stimuli and consecutive hours weighed separately. That is what the reintegration plan aims at, and each month everyone involved is told where things stand.
Career scan & personal coaching
Stage three turns to the employee. Tests, assignments and conversations make clear what colleagues came to them for, producing a profile more concrete than their job title.
Labour market exploration & job matching
Profile in hand, we turn outward. Healthcare, installation and construction are recruiting from Purmerend to Zaandam, and Amsterdam widens the range considerably. If the move is too far to make at once, a practical period comes before it.
Active job search & network approach
Now the employee gets in touch with firms directly, advertised vacancy or not. Because their network sits outside the municipality, we first map who works where. Each week we discuss what the contacts produced.
Aftercare and sustainable placement
Support carries on for two months after the placement. They show whether the work suits and whether the travel fits into the day. The coach keeps the reporting up, writes the final report and is reachable through those weeks.
The basis for second track
Four points this programme rests on
At review, only what is on paper counts. These four points make the difference.
What exactly fell away?
With office work, physical effort is rarely the issue. The occupational health assessment distinguishes concentration, stimuli and the number of hours in a row, and that changes which roles remain.
Where does the network actually sit?
Most residents work outside the municipality, so the professional network is rarely in the village. Map who is where before anyone is approached, or the wrong circle gets addressed.
What would colleagues name?
The job title usually does not cover it. We write down what people came to them for, because that is what a new employer is looking for.
Where is capacity built up?
At a workplace, not at the kitchen table. A number of weeks in a work experience placement settles what can be carried, travel time included.
A sustainable next step
The employee holds a job built on what they genuinely did and on what they can carry, and the file records how that was arrived at.
Office work, healthcare and trade
Why employers in Landsmeer and Waterland work with us
Office work, healthcare and trade fill most of the jobs here, and many employees work on the other side of the IJ. Absence in that corner often arises from sustained workload, and then which element gave way says more than the job title.
Amsterdam fifteen minutes away
For office roles and healthcare that means many times the possibilities in practice. Travel time does count towards the daily load, so what is feasible depends on the build-up.
A village with city jobs
Landsmeer has under twelve thousand residents and most of them work elsewhere. The network therefore sits outside the municipality, and that determines where an approach makes sense.
Healthcare and engineering recruit continuously
From Purmerend to Zaandam, demand exceeds supply in healthcare, installation and construction. Even without a background there, ways in exist through planning and support.
What happens goes in the same day
Contacts and outcomes are noted with the date. Nothing needs adding afterwards.
Questions from Landsmeer and Waterland
What employers here put to us
When does a second-track programme become relevant?
Week 52 is the last moment; if the company doctor says sooner that the original role is going, you start there. With absence caused by workload, starting early pays off, because the build-up then goes in small steps. The duration of each stage can be found at the duration of a second track programme.
What are the costs of a second-track programme?
Duration and composition together determine the amount. Placement by itself amounts to little. Once assessment, coaching and a practical period join in, the figure climbs. What it contains and what it costs is on the table before anything is scheduled.
Should Amsterdam be in the search area by default?
Not automatically. The city offers a great deal, but fifteen minutes of travel counts towards what someone can manage in a day, and during the build-up that is often just too much. We look per stage at what fits and explain that choice in the file.
How do you determine the search area?
As far as capacity reaches. Amsterdam-Noord, Purmerend, Oostzaan, Zaandam, Ilpendam and Broek in Waterland are close by, and Amsterdam is fifteen minutes. What the area becomes, we agree beforehand.
