Second-Track Reintegration
Reintegration agency in Alkmaar
Long absence and the old role off the table? Alkmaar is a region where many employers never advertise; we approach them directly and keep a clear and traceable record of the reintegration activities.

Trusted by organisations that invest in their people

What track 2 is about
Searching for work where it is not advertised.
Once returning to the current employer falls away, the second track begins. What that involves and which deadlines belong with it is at the track 2 programme. Whether track 2 is compulsory in your situation is covered at when track 2 becomes compulsory.
What comes on top here is the way of searching. A large share of employers above the canal does not advertise, so a list of names and a direct approach produce more than job boards. That takes more preparation and it counts towards the file all the same.
Our office
Second-track reintegration in Alkmaar and nearby
Our Alkmaar address is Van der Kaaijstraat, south of the centre and a short drive from anywhere in the city. North Holland above the North Sea Canal has a labour market of its own: healthcare, trade and professional services carry it, and the organisations differ enormously in scale. From a family business of twelve people to a hospital group with thousands.
A second track succeeds or founders on the number of employers you can approach. Above the North Sea Canal sits a dense layer of family firms and wholesalers that rarely advertises. Anyone searching job boards alone sees none of it; anyone who knows the companies by name has a list that produces something.
About Alkmaar
Good to know about Alkmaar
One hospital group across several sites
Healthcare is the largest employer here and operates across Alkmaar, Den Helder and the surrounding towns. A move within the same organisation can therefore already mean a completely different workplace.
Many companies under fifty staff
A dense layer of family firms and wholesalers surrounds the city. They rarely advertise and hire on conversation and recommendation, which makes job boards less useful here than in the Randstad.
Amsterdam is forty minutes away
The train puts you at Sloterdijk in forty minutes. For anyone who finds that an acceptable commute the supply doubles; for anyone staying in the region, what counts is how well we know the employers here.
Van der Kaaijstraat, on the south side
You can park in the street and there is a bus from Alkmaar station. Would you rather not travel? Then the sessions run on screen.
Most posts are listed nowhere
Companies under fifty staff recruit through people they know. For track 2 that means approaching them directly, including where nothing is open, and that asks for a coach who knows the names.
At a small firm there is sometimes more give
Where the job framework is not fixed, a task can be divided differently. That makes adapted work achievable in places you would not think to look.
Healthcare here sits across several sites
From Alkmaar to Den Helder the same organisation is at work. Another site gives a different working day but does not count as second track at the assessment.
Trade and construction hire on craft
In wholesale and construction, experience and reliability weigh more heavily than certificates. For anyone building back up after absence that is more favourable than it looks.
What the programme looks like
From intake to aftercare, step by step
Six steps the Gatekeeper Act prescribes, filled in per employee. For the full explanation see the track 2 programme.
Intake meeting and situation overview
The action plan comes out of a conversation with ample time for it: medical room, work history and the direction the employee sees for themselves.
Capacity analysis & occupational health assessment
From the FML and the remaining medical documents the coach reads which types of work remain compatible with the employee's capacity, with measurable goals attached. Employer, company doctor and UWV hear monthly where it stands.
Career scan & personal coaching
What someone can do, what drives them and where their limit sits emerges from tests, assignments and conversations. This results in a profile a stranger of an employer can use.
Labour market exploration & job matching
That profile goes past the market: which roles fit the employee's capacity and where realistic opportunities can be found. If one step is too much, a work experience placement goes first. The room here sits in healthcare, technical work and construction.
Active job search & network approach
Now the approaching begins, and mostly the direct kind: writing to companies with nothing open, calling old contacts, selecting deliberately. Amsterdam is forty minutes away and counts as soon as the journey is workable.
Aftercare and sustainable placement
The coach walks alongside for two months, because that is how long a role takes to prove itself. The record-keeping reaches the UWV in those same weeks.

Why a second track runs differently here
Four peculiarities of this labour market, and what they mean for the search.
Most work is listed nowhere
Companies under fifty staff fill their posts through people they know. Writing to them directly produces more here than responding to adverts, including at employers with nothing open.
Small firms sometimes have more give
Where tasks are not fixed in a job framework, they can be shifted more easily. An adapted role is achievable at a family firm more often than the size suggests.
Healthcare here works across several sites
Alkmaar, Den Helder and the places between belong to the same organisation. Another site gives a different working day but stays first track as long as the employer is the same.
Amsterdam counts when the journey fits
Forty minutes to Sloterdijk doubles what is on offer. If someone is still building up hours, that travel time comes off those hours.
What we are working towards
The employee works at a company they would never have found alone, and the documentation shows which steps were taken throughout the programme.
Our approach: personal, local and results-driven
Why employers here end up with us
Healthcare, trade and business services carry this labour market, with organisations that differ enormously in scale. That asks for a different way of searching than in the Randstad.
We know the companies that do not advertise
A large share of the work here never reaches a website. We write to those companies ourselves, which lengthens the list of possibilities considerably.
Small organisations sometimes offer more room
Where tasks are not fixed in a job framework, they can be shifted more easily. Adapted work is achievable there more often than the size suggests.
The file grows with the programme
What happens goes in the same day, with date and response. Nothing has to be reconstructed in week 100.
The price is settled before the start
What you pay and what you get for it is on paper before the first appointment. No recalculation is involved.
Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about reintegration
When do we have to begin?
No later than week 52. If the company doctor thinks a return to the old role unlikely, there is no need to wait for it. Set out at the length of track 2.
What are the costs of a second-track programme?
Reckon on 2,300 euros excluding VAT as a floor; how long it runs and what is in it decides the rest. Quote beforehand, and the first conversation carries no charge.
We find nothing suitable on the job boards. What now?
Then it is time to search differently. Above the canal most work is not advertised, so we put together a list of companies and approach them directly. That belongs to track 2 and counts towards the file.
Another site of our organisation would fit. Is that track 2?
No. If the employer stays the same, it is the first track. Which is fine and often the best outcome, but at the assessment it does not count as second track.
Which region is included in the job search?
Heerhugowaard, Heiloo, Bergen, Castricum, Schagen, Hoorn and Den Helder belong to it. Towards Zaanstad and Amsterdam we look along as soon as the travel time fits inside the capacity. If you continue to disagree with the assessment, you can request an expert opinion from the UWV.
Where is Care4Careers in Alkmaar?
Van der Kaaijstraat 64, 1815 VM Alkmaar, on the south side of the city. Give us the day in advance and a coach will be kept free.
Which towns fall under this location?
Heerhugowaard, Heiloo, Bergen, Castricum, Schagen, Hoorn and Den Helder are included. Looking towards Zaanstad or Amsterdam, and that direction is covered as well.
We found nothing suitable on the job boards.
That says little here, because most work never reaches them. The question is whether there has been a direct approach: writing to companies with nothing open belongs to track 2 and produces the most in this region.
Our employee does not want to travel to Amsterdam.
Then we search within the region, and that works perfectly well here. The list is shorter but not empty, precisely because we also approach the companies that place no vacancy.
How do you record an approach without a vacancy?
With a date, company name, contact and the response to it. For the UWV a deliberate approach counts just as much as an application, provided it is written down so it can be followed. Set out at drawing up the reintegration report.
