Second track explained
Looking for other work after years at the same institution
Once it is settled that the original role lapses and there is no suitable place internally, the second track begins to run. It starts with the question of what is still feasible; capacity is then built up, and only after that are employers approached. What those stages consist of is set out at the second track programme.
Alongside the statutory obligation, the question here is what travels with the employee. Institutions rooted for generations have their own job structures and their own vocabulary. For someone who worked there twenty years, the question is not so much what they want to become, but which part of their work is recognisable beyond those walls.
Our office
Second-track reintegration in Sint-Michielsgestel and nearby
Our location in Sint-Michielsgestel sits on Petrus Dondersplein, right in the village and twenty minutes from Den Bosch. Care, education and business services give this municipality its character, with several large care and education institutions that have been based here for generations. Anyone forced to leave gets asked what they now want to become, while the reverse question yields more: what do you no longer want to be doing five years from now.
About Sint-Michielsgestel
Good to know about Sint-Michielsgestel
Institutions that have been here for generations
In and around the village are care and education employers where people often stay for an entire career. That gives them thorough expertise and, at the same time, a CV full of job titles that mean something only inside that one organisation. Which is exactly why the question of where you want to be in five years is harder to answer than it sounds.
Den Bosch twenty minutes away, Eindhoven half an hour
Without moving house you are attached to two labour markets, with considerably more roles in services, engineering and care than the village itself offers. Accept half an hour of travel and your options widen sharply.
Care and engineering are short of people year in, year out
The shortages here are stubborn, including in supporting roles such as scheduling, quality and facilities. An employer will then sooner hire someone who has not fully mastered the trade, provided the foundation is sound.
Petrus Dondersplein, in the village centre
You can park on the square and the bus from Den Bosch takes under twenty minutes. Prefer not to travel at all, then the whole programme runs by video, from first meeting to aftercare.
What the programme looks like
From intake to aftercare, step by step
What follows is a series of six stages together called the second track programme. The order does not change, the content differs per employee, and the recording follows the Gatekeeper Improvement Act.
Intake meeting and situation overview
The opening conversation is about what went wrong in practice, and in healthcare and education that is more often the accumulation than one task. Alongside it we go through the medical opinion, the years that came before and what the employee wants. From that emerges an action plan meeting the requirements.
Capacity analysis & occupational health assessment
The second stage records what is still possible. The FML and the supplementary information determine what work remains, with contact hours, lifting and irregular shifts weighed separately. That conclusion forms the objective in the reintegration plan, with monthly notice to all parties.
Career scan & personal coaching
The employee then comes up. Tests, assignments and conversations make clear which tasks they genuinely performed, apart from the job name the institution gave them.
Labour market exploration & job matching
With that profile we go out to the market. Healthcare, engineering and services are looking for people here, and Den Bosch and Eindhoven widen the range considerably. If the step to another organisation is too large, a practical period precedes it.
Active job search & network approach
At the placement stage the employee approaches organisations themselves, including where nothing is open. CV and profile follow the chosen direction and we prepare the conversations together, with a review each week.
Aftercare and sustainable placement
Finally, two months of aftercare. They make clear whether the new pace is sustainable and whether the role suits. Reporting and the closing report rest with the coach, who stays reachable through those weeks.
The basis for second track
Four points this programme rests on
At review it is the record that counts. These four points decide whether the file can carry it.
Which part of the work fell away?
The occupational health assessment establishes the limits. In healthcare that often sits with lifting and irregular shifts; in education, rather with contact hours and the pressure of a class.
What do the internal job names mean?
A title that is clear inside the institution says nothing to an outsider. We write out which tasks sat behind it, so it becomes readable beyond the organisation.
Is there another role internally?
Large institutions have supporting positions in scheduling, quality and facilities. Go through them and keep track of which were examined and where they came unstuck.
Where is capacity built up?
At a workplace, not at home. A period in a work experience placement shows which rhythm is sustainable and counts demonstrably.
The intended outcome
The employee is in a role matching what they actually did, within their limits, with a file explaining that route.
Healthcare, education and services
Why employers in Sint-Michielsgestel and the surrounding area work with us
Healthcare, education and business services give this municipality its character, with institutions established here for generations. Absence there regularly arises from sustained pressure, and then which element gave way counts for more than the job title.
Institutions with their own job structures
That yields thorough expertise and at the same time a CV full of names meaning something only inside that organisation. Translating is therefore the first job rather than the last.

Healthcare and engineering recruit structurally
The shortages here are stubborn, including in supporting roles such as scheduling, quality and facilities. That makes stepping in possible without already mastering the whole picture.
Every contact goes into the file
Conversations and outcomes are noted on the day itself, with the date. Nothing has to be reconstructed afterwards.
Questions from Sint-Michielsgestel and the surrounding area
What employers here put to us
When should second-track reintegration start?
Week 52 forms the outer limit; if the company doctor establishes earlier that the original work lapses, you begin at that moment. With absence caused by sustained pressure, starting early pays off, because the build-up goes gradually. The duration per stage is set out at the duration of a second track programme.
How is the programme fee determined?
Duration and composition together determine the amount. Placement alone covers little; assessment, coaching and a practical period broaden the programme. What it contains and what it costs is known before anything is scheduled.
Our job names mean nothing outside the institution. What do you do with that?
We replace them with tasks. Not the title but what someone did, with whom and with what responsibility: that is readable outside the institution and can be checked. It often saves weeks before an application lands anywhere.
How broad is the search area?
As far as capacity reaches. Den Bosch, Vught, Boxtel, Schijndel, Berlicum and Sint-Oedenrode are close by, and we bring in Eindhoven and Tilburg where the search area extends further. What it becomes, we agree beforehand.
