Second-Track Reintegration
Reintegration agency in Bergen op Zoom
When an employee is unable to resume their own work, the search for suitable work with another employer begins. Care4Careers guides that process from Bergen op Zoom, with attention to a labour market in which a limited number of large employers set the tone, and with a case file built around what the gatekeeper review asks for.

Trusted by organisations that invest in their people

What the second track is about
Searching for suitable work elsewhere, with a file that shows the considerations made
When a return to the employee's own role is ruled out and there is no suitable internal alternative, the task moves outside the organisation. That is the second track: first establishing what the employee can still manage, then building up capacity, and then searching purposefully among other employers. The phases are described at the second track programme.
Alongside the statutory obligation, the concentration of this labour market plays a part. When a department disappears at a large employer, several people are searching at once, which makes an early start a practical necessity.
Our office
Second-track reintegration in Bergen op Zoom and nearby
Our Bergen op Zoom location is on Bruinevisstraat, in the centre. Manufacturing, logistics and engineering carry this corner of West Brabant, with Roosendaal, Moerdijk and Woensdrecht as the other centres of gravity and Antwerp forty-five minutes away. What stands out here is how people came by their work: through an agency, through someone they knew, or by growing through one company. That route says a lot about which approach works again now.
About Bergen op Zoom
Good to know about Bergen op Zoom
Large employers, and not much beside them
A handful of industrial companies account for a large share of employment here. When a department goes at such an employer, many people search at once, and speed counts more heavily than elsewhere.
Roosendaal, Woensdrecht and Antwerp
Within half an hour lie Roosendaal and the airbase at Woensdrecht with its maintenance firms; Antwerp is forty-five minutes. That widens the supply considerably, though working in Belgium does change your insurance and your tax return.
Many people came in through an agency
Agency work is a common stepping stone to permanent work here. That means a share of the workforce has seen several employers from the inside, which produces a stronger network than people themselves assume.
Bruinevisstraat, in the centre
It is a short walk from the station and there is parking nearby. Sessions can also run entirely online. If you would rather not travel, you join on screen.
What the programme looks like
From intake to aftercare, step by step
From the first conversation through to completion, the employee works through the steps below, which together form the second track programme. The order is fixed, the content is not, and everything is documented as the Gatekeeper Improvement Act prescribes.
Intake meeting and situation overview
Everything begins with a thorough intake conversation, because a programme resting on assumptions runs into trouble later. The coach and the employee go through the medical scope, the work history and the wishes for the years ahead. The action plan that follows is drawn up so that the UWV can work with it later.
Capacity analysis & occupational health assessment
Which roles remain achievable follows from the functional capacity list, read together with the other medical documents. The coach converts that into concrete goals with a deadline attached. From that point on, employer, company doctor and UWV receive a monthly account of progress.
Career scan & personal coaching
Next we look at what the employee brings. Someone who has been inside several companies through agency work has built up more experience than a single job description shows. Tests, assignments and conversations surface that experience and produce a profile with which they can present themselves to an unfamiliar employer.
Labour market exploration & job matching
The profile is then set against demand in the region. Industry, logistics and engineering are the mainstays here, with Roosendaal, Moerdijk and Woensdrecht within half an hour and Antwerp as an addition for anyone considering a Belgian contract. If a direct move is too large, the employee first builds up through a work experience placement.
Active job search & network approach
Now comes the approach to employers, targeted and not limited to advertisements. The employee draws on the network built up in earlier jobs, and the CV and interview preparation are sharpened per employer. Each week the coach and employee discuss what has been undertaken and what the responses were.
Aftercare and sustainable placement
After placement the coach stays involved for a further two months. That allows time to test whether the work in practice turns out as it sounded in the interview. In the same period we deliver the final report and the reintegration report as the UWV prescribes.
Our approach
Four points that make the difference at assessment
A file is assessed on what it contains rather than on what took place. These four points therefore deserve attention from the first weeks onwards.
Has capacity been established objectively?
An estimate from a line manager is not the same as an assessment. The occupational health assessment records which activities are feasible and thereby sets the limits within which suitable work is sought.
Has everything internal been examined before looking outside?
An industrial employer with several departments generally has more roles than any single manager oversees. Record which departments were consulted and why a particular role turned out not to be suitable.
How is capacity rebuilt?
Capacity is rebuilt in a working environment rather than while waiting for one. A period in a work experience placement demonstrates what proves sustainable in practice and provides demonstrable effort at the same time.
What is at stake if the assessment is negative?
If the efforts fall short, the UWV imposes a sanction and the salary continues for a further year at the employer's expense. The costs are set out at the cost of a wage sanction.
The result we are aiming for
There is a placement that matches what the employee can manage, with a report showing that nothing was left undone.
A concentrated labour market
Why employers in West Brabant work with us
Industry, logistics and engineering carry the labour market around Bergen op Zoom, with Roosendaal, Moerdijk and Woensdrecht as the other centres of gravity. Long-term absence occurs regularly in these sectors.
Suitable when several employees are absent at once
When a department disappears, several files run alongside one another. We put together an individual programme for each employee while also keeping an overview of the progress of the group as a whole.
Experience with several employers is an advantage
In this region, agency work is a common stepping stone into permanent employment. Employees who started that way have often worked at a number of companies. We describe that experience concretely, because it widens the range of suitable roles.
Belgium belongs to the search area, with caveats
Antwerp is three quarters of an hour away and offers work in logistics and engineering. A Belgian contract does change social security, pension accrual and tax returns. We set out those consequences and refer you on for the detail.
Recording that keeps pace with the programme
Contact moments, applications and results are noted as they occur. At the assessment it is therefore possible to follow which steps were taken and what they produced.
What employers ask us
Questions about the second track in West Brabant
When is the moment to start?
In almost every case the answer is: now. The law names the first-year evaluation as the moment, but in files that run into trouble later, the delay almost always originated at the beginning. How much time the successive phases take is set out at the duration of a second track programme.
What are the costs of a second-track programme?
That differs per case, because not every employee needs the same components. We propose the composition, you see in advance what that involves in terms of time and cost, and only then does the programme begin. There is no charge for a first conversation.
We have several employees on long-term absence. Can that be handled together?
The organisation of it can be handled together; the content cannot. Each employee has their own capacity and background, so the programmes are filled in separately. We can, however, go through the arrangements and the reporting with you as a single package.
May an employee take work in Belgium during the programme?
That is possible, although it requires groundwork beforehand. A Belgian contract has consequences for social security, pension accrual and tax returns. We map out those consequences before a choice is made.
