Outplacement: support towards a new future
What is outplacement?
Outplacement provides support in finding a suitable next step and is usually arranged and funded by the employer. You work with a dedicated coach throughout the programme. The introductory meeting carries no cost and no obligation, not even where you decide against guidance afterwards.
Eight building blocks are available and most people deploy four. Coaching and assessment, your profile and LinkedIn, preparing for interviews, network, job search, entrepreneurship and lastly aftercare.
Why the phases sit in this order is set out on what an outplacement programme involves.
What does an outplacement process look like at Care4Careers in Hoofddorp?
Our approach in 5 steps
Five steps together form an outplacement programme. The cost sits with your employer. If outplacement is included in a settlement agreement or other departure arrangement, it is sensible to check carefully what has been agreed before signing: having your settlement agreement reviewed. That is where outplacement differs from help you buy yourself.
Many people opt for a modular programme: together with your coach you decide where to put the effort. Here you will find our modules.
Personal intake
Where did you work, in which language, and where do you want to end up next? That third question bounds the other two.
Coaching and assessment
Tests and conversations show what you can do, regardless of the language you did it in until now.
Preparing for the market
The profile you send out is tailored to the market you have in mind. A Dutch and an English CV are not translations of each other.
Job search and network
The writing you do yourself, working through a list matched to the languages you can work in. We review each conversation afterwards.
Aftercare and support
You are under way and we keep reading along until it is settled that it fits.

When another employer starts to come into view
When outplacement is used
Changes in employment do not all lead outside along the same route. We first establish what has already been decided in your case.
Reorganisation removes your role
If your internal position disappears, we explore how your expertise could be applied in another role or organisation.
Temporary employment ends as planned
The known date allows you to investigate direction and strengthen your market profile before becoming available.
Career guidance is included in an agreed exit
When employer and employee decide together to end employment, outplacement can become part of the arrangements.
A return process does not provide a sustainable solution
If employment subsequently ends, we help identify a work setting that better suits your present situation.
Outplacement in Hoofddorp
From work to work, in the language your market speaks
Language can be an important part of your search profile. With outplacement in Hoofddorp, we look at which working environments and roles fit your experience and language skills.
2,000 to 5,000 euros, before VAT
The components you deploy and the number of months decide where inside that range you end up. A quotation names the figure before anything gets under way.
The whole programme can run in English
From intake to interview training, including a CV that reads correctly for a Dutch reader. Part of our team works entirely in English.
We know the employers at and around the airport
From handling and cargo to the head offices in Beukenhorst. With each of those categories the way in runs differently. Making contact without asking for a job: networking to find work.
Aftercare after your first working day
Particularly with a move into a different language environment, the first weeks take adjusting. Through that period you can still reach your coach.
What you are working towards
You have a clear picture of which part of the market is open to you, and inside it you found work that suits.
Who guides you
The coaches at Opaallaan
You work with a dedicated coach throughout the programme. Together, you determine which types of employers and roles fit your experience and search direction. Your coach can work wholly in English where you prefer that. You can meet in Beukenhorst or online.
Our office
Outplacement in Hoofddorp and nearby
Our Hoofddorp location is on Opaallaan, in Beukenhorst and minutes from Schiphol. The picture is set by aviation, logistics and professional services, with international head offices clustered around them. That has one consequence rarely seen elsewhere: the language you worked in partly decides which employers are open to you. That is a question people rarely ask themselves until they start looking.
About Hoofddorp
Good to know about Hoofddorp
English is no exception here
If you have mainly worked in an international environment, it can be useful to have both a Dutch and an English version of your professional profile. Which version you use depends on the role and organisation you are approaching.
Living and working diverge here
A large share of the people working at and around the airport live elsewhere in the Randstad. Their local network is often smaller than their years of service suggest, and it is spread across several towns.
Aviation moves in cycles
Ground handling, cargo, catering, maintenance and security all track flight numbers. When those drop it hits several employers at once, and the search area widens beyond the airport of its own accord.
Opaallaan, in Beukenhorst
A few minutes from Hoofddorp station, with space for the car at the door. Sessions can also run entirely on screen. If you would rather skip the trip, you join digitally.

The labour market in Hoofddorp
The picture here is set by aviation, logistics and professional services, while vacancies are shifting towards engineering, IT and healthcare. Those last three sit largely outside the airport, which widens the search area of its own accord.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about outplacement
How long does a programme take?
Three to six months. The duration of the programme depends on your starting point, your career question and the type of support you need. The coach stays the same throughout, because a change midway costs time nobody gets back. The phases are described in how an outplacement programme runs.
Can the guidance run entirely in English?
Yes, and it happens regularly here. Intake, coaching, interview training and the CV can all run in English. What we do discuss alongside it is how a Dutch employer reads that CV, because that differs from what you are used to.
I worked at the airport. Where else can I go?
Further than most people think. Handling, cargo and security run on planning, safety thinking and working under time pressure, and all three are in demand in logistics, production and healthcare. The aviation cycle is then no longer your cycle. How to write that down is in writing a CV after redundancy.
My Dutch is limited. Is that a problem?
For part of the market yes and for another part not at all. International companies, IT and sections of logistics work in English; healthcare, education and government almost never do. We map how large that first part is before you start searching.
How quickly can we start?
Normally less than a week after the assignment is approved. We answer an enquiry the same or the next working day.
My entire network is at the airport. Is that a problem?
It is a limitation and an asset at once. A limitation because a network concentrated in one cluster moves with that cluster: when the sector dips, your contacts are searching too. An asset because airport work brings together people from logistics, engineering, security, catering and services, and by now far from all of them are still at Schiphol. So the first step is not meeting new people but mapping where your former colleagues ended up.
We are supporting a whole department. Is that one programme?
No. In an international environment the starting points differ widely: one person searches on within the same English-speaking zone, another specifically wants a Dutch-speaking employer. The coach and the employee decide together which modules come up. See further the programme in modules.
